Set up your own Youth Dance Committee!
Make dance happen in your area
As part of the initial three year project, moving Voices set up Youth Dance Committees all over the south east in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, Kent, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. The committees were lead by local volunteers who met to discuss the local dance scene, share experiences, ideas and plan dance activity in their own communities.
If you want to start your own committee, take a look at the materials we used to start ours. We’ve included the constitution for the Brighton & Hove Committee, the job descriptions of all the roles needed to get it going and even their contracts. It’s a free resource to download, to give you ideas and get you started, plus there are more useful links at the bottom for more information.

"I am passionate about equal opportunities and see dance not only as art and exercise but also as a therapeutic outlet. I therefore believe strongly in opening up opportunities for all, in their own unique ways, to enjoy dance" said Lucy (21), Chair of the Brighton and Hove Youth Dance Committee.
