Moving Voices (85K)

"Its great to have the opportunity to socialise with people with similar interests, whilst independently contributing to my community" said volunteer Amara (17), Brighton.

moving Voices was a three year project delivered by South East Dance and funded by V, but most importantly run by the fabulous and dedicated volunteers! People aged 16-25 from across the nine areas of the South East: Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, Kent, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, came together to make dance happen in their local neighbourhoods.

moving Voices helped young people make their own ideas a reality by providing training and support in all aspects of dance related activity, from dance leadership to marketing, fundraising to event management. It wasn’t just dancers that got involved, there were unlimited ways to flex your creativity and bolster your CV: taking photographs or writing articles for the moving Voices website, making films or volunteering in our offices. We also helped volunteers gain nationally recognised awards such as Arts Awards, Volunteering Awards, Dance Leadership and Peer Mentoring, all free of charge, to give them the best route to their chosen career.

Although this 3 year project has come to an end, South East Dance is keen to extend the moving Voices legacy and keep offering young people the chance to contribute to the arts in their community. Keep an eye out on the volunteering opportunities page or join the South East Dance mailing list to keep up to date with all of our future projects.
