What is Peer Mentoring?

It’s all about getting help and advice from your peers. That means people of the same age, with a similar background and shared interests, who are in a perfect position to understand your situation and share all they’ve learnt from their experiences.

Through the first three year phase of moving Voices, we trained loads of young people aged 16 – 25 with a passion for dance to share their experiences with others. The peer mentors worked in all sorts of ways: acting as a sounding board for a young person choreographing their first solo, helping to find out about studying dance in further education and developing a volunteer's confidence to chair a Youth Dance Committee meeting.

Peer mentoring participant Hannah (22), said: "Undertaking the peer mentoring training was a great opportunity for me to meet and work with new people who share the same interests in dance as me. You can share your personal experiences in dance and pass your knowledge onto others"
